originally released in 1978 on greg charmichaels red greg records, ‘lady bug’ and -love bug- are probably bumblebee unlimited s most recognizable hits. now repressed on the get on down label ... with an undeniable groove, signature keys and arrangements by patrick adams in addition to the comically sped-up vocals, lady bug is considered by many to be one of the most important underground tracks of the disco era. as with the original -lady bug- 12- single, the john morales and frank trimarco -sunshine sound- mix takes the a-side of the rca release. a true disco version in every sense of the word, this almost 10 minute mix brings out the latin percussions to the front making it a true dance floor classic and establishing john morales as one of the best remixers in the industry. the b-side belongs to one of new york city s hottest djs at the time: larry levan. despite being a very early remix by the legendary paradise garage dj, the talent was evident and his understanding of a club mix in wide display. it’s no wonder larry levan would go to become one of the most respected and revered remixers of his generation.

almost 10 years have passed since onra arrived with the charmingly eccentric chinoiseries lp. 32 hip-hop beats formed the sample-based project - dusty chinese vinyl hissing and crackling throughout – resulting in an intriguing and spontaneous mix of the producers interest in exploring a newly-discovered style of music with his love for classic hip-hop production.
using the style of analogue mpc production combined with the somewhat restrictive record sampling of strictly chinese music records, he has been able to be creative over three volumes, an amount of 100 instrumentals, despite the challenge of finding more obviously standout samples in chinese music.
the chinoiseries projects are the type of albums that invites the listener to play it from beginning to end, in order to really enjoy the trip and appreciate the variety of rhythms and textures spread over those 32 short instrumentals. in that way, “pt.3” is no different to its predecessors, but the originality of the samples, the curious harmonies and the odd-drum patterns still makes the album sounds as fresh as the first one.
onra finishes this epic trilogy with class as a result of extended record digging across the far east and the producer s own development over the preceding 10 years.
as a producer who has released records inspired by 80’s funk, 90’s hip-hop and r’n’b, electronic and even a spiritual jazz project, “pt. 3” brings this stylised set to a close.

zum einen sind da die verschwommenen, direkten songs von „never going home“ mit denen hazel english ihre erste aufmerksamkeit erlangte, zum anderen ist auf „just give in“ die blühende, kreative partnerschaft mit jackson philips (aka day wave) zu hören. die beiden trafen sich, als hazel in ihrer wahlheimat oakland in einem buchladen arbeitete und jackson, auf dem weg seinen synthesizer reparieren zu lassen, kurz vorbeischaute. die beiden kamen ins gespräch und beschlossen kurz darauf zusammen musik zu machen. eine zufallsbekanntschaft ohne die diese doppel-ep vermutlich nie zu stande gekommen wäre. jeder der songs hat eine zeitlose, sonnengeküsste Ästethik inne, die von hazels direktem stil und ihrer pop-sensibilität nochmals hervorgehoben wird. hochansteckender dream-pop trifft auf ehrliches songwriting. auf einem beach-pop-fundament aufbauend schafft es hazel english mit „just give in / never going home“ einen vibe zu erschaffen, der sich in jeder umgebung wohlfühlt.

womans heiß ersehntes debütablum happy freedom ist nun über asmara records erhältlich. einfache antworten sind gefragt. woman stellen lieber fragen. zum beispiel diese hier: where you gonna go when the planet erupts? heißt es im ersten vers von dust, dem ersten song auf happy freedom, dem ersten album des kölner trios. seit fünf jahren wird bereits über diese band gemunkelt, wer sie von anfang an kennt, tauscht seine frühen eindrücke wie geheimwissen aus. die geschichte begann 2012 in der kellerbar im belgischen viertel von köln. drei befreundete musiker aus der stadt hatten noch nicht einmal einen namen, aber das erste set stand. es war laut und chaotisch, halb einstürzende neubauten, halb suicide. wer damals dabei war, rieb sich die augen: okay, das ding steckte konzeptionell noch in den kinderschuhen, aber die intensität und experimentierfreude der musik nahm alle ein.

das 1972 erschienene selbstbetitelte debütalbum der deutschen gruppe oratorium ist eines jener seltenen alben, die in einer gewissen mystik gehüllt sind. dies ist ein album das dich in eine heilige und übernatürliche welt einlädt, zu einem kompromisslosen religiös-progressiven rock. unter der leitung von komponist bernhard hornig wurde die band 1967 unter dem namen christliche einheit mit dem schwerpunkt auf religiöser musik gegründet. die ursprüngliche besetzung der band bestand aus drei brüdern und zwei klassenkameraden, alle noch jugendliche zu der zeit. die hornig-brüder waren die kreativen köpfe in der band. bernhard fungierte als komponist, georg kümmerte sich um das schreiben der texte und ihr jüngsten bruder rainer, der als mitglied eines berühmten deutschen jugendchores gesangsausbildung gehabt hatte, übernahm die hauptstimme.
